Assoc for Donkey and Equine Haven

The Association for Donkey and Equine Haven, USA (the “Haven”) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Haven was founded in 2009 and is completely volunteer operated. Our Mission is the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of abused, neglected, and abandoned equine animals. An integral component of our Mission is providing a space for people of all ages and abilities to experience empathy, compassion, and loving kindness through personal contact and connections with these loving and intelligent animals and carry it forward into their daily interactions with others. 

The Haven rescues donkeys, mules, and equines from situations of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We take custody from physically infirm owners, families of decedents, or financially distressed owners who can no longer care for their animals.  We also take donkeys and equines from law enforcement seizures and surrenders, and rescue them from the slaughter pipeline. 

We do so without regard for age, health, or adoptability. We fervently believe that every animal deserves a humane, healthy, and loving existence, and a compassionate end. Lack of capacity is the only reason an animal is turned away.
