Hamilton Township Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association

The Hamilton Township Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, HTCPAAA, is a 501(C)3 organization made up of civic-minded members who live and work in Hamilton Township, Maineville and Warren County. All volunteers are graduates of the Hamilton Township Police Department’s Citizens Academy, which is an 11-week community outreach program designed to foster a better understanding of the role of local law enforcement in our neighborhoods. Topics include patrol procedures, use of force policy, department organizational structure and training, crisis intervention, hostage negotiations, domestic violence, the opioid and fentanyl epidemic and traffic accident reconstruction.

The purpose of the HTCPAAA is to improve understanding between the Hamilton Township Police Department and its community through education, interaction and trust. The HTCPAAA aims to 

• Educate citizens about the police department, criminal justice system, and police regulations. 
• Provide useful and accurate information to help citizens understand police practices and services, which can help dispel misconceptions about local law enforcement.
• Reduce crime by encouraging citizens to take appropriate security measures and participate in crime prevention efforts.
• Increase public safety by discussing neighborhood issues and providing information that can help strengthen community protection.
• Spread safety awareness information through HTCPAAA Alumni participation at community events and township gatherings.
• Build trust through fostering positive relationships between citizens and police, which can lead to increased cooperation and support for police work.

The HTCPAAA has achieved the highest rating of Platinum Seal of Transparency on Candid (formerly Guidestar), the world’s largest source of information on non-profit organizations. This designation recognizes the HTCPAA’s exemplary level of financial health, accountability, and transparency and puts the association in the top 0.1% of charities nationally in terms of open disclosure and honest business practices. As a result, potential donors can be confident that their contribution will assist HTCPAAA in helping our neighbors, communities and law enforcement personnel.
