Old Dog Sailing Inc

Company Summary:  Old Dog Sailing (ODS) is a nonprofit started in February 2023 for the purpose of serving Wounded Service Members (WSM) and First Responders (FR) in the areas of mental health and life improvement.

Mission:  Facilitate life altering empowerment to WSMs and FRs through sailing.

Intent:  Develop a Holistic and Comprehensive, Fun and Educational, and Empowering program for WSMs and FRs.  Create conditions for emotional / intellectual / physical / spiritual “re-discovery” and growth.  

Method:  Form Crews of 4-6 WSMs / FRs.  Train Crews to sail using a standardized program of instruction (POI) over an 8-day period. Conduct initial training on a 25ft sloop.  Conduct the body of training on a 55-65ft catamaran in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, depending on the sailing season, to the level that the Crews are sailing the last leg of the cruise by themselves under supervision.

Conduct 12 training iterations per US / Bahamas / Caribbean sailing season; 72 pax per year.

Post Cruise:  

     Recruit from this population Crews to sail across the Atlantic as part of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers – Europe (ARC-E), and support staff for each leg of the Rally; provide additional training for these Crews.  ARC execution three years after beginning ODS operations.

     Finance Crew education, training and job placement for anything related to the design, manufacture or maintenance of a sailboat and all of her systems.

     Finance Crew education, training and job placement for anything related to the operations of Old Dog Sailing.

     Former Crew integration into future Crews.

Do all this at no expense to the Crews:  All expenses paid except for what the Crew does ashore at marina ports of call.
