Inception since 1983, founded by Joyce Harris-Wright and thirteen other members. Originally formed to assist Jamaican Nurses transition to practice their profession in the USA. Later the founder and members thought it was necessary to unselfishly address other needs through volunteerism and support for the advancement of educational opportunities, and improvement of health.
Membership is open to individuals, who identifies with the organization's mission and philosophy. The Jamaica Nurses' Association of Florida and many of its members are recipients of numerous local community and international awards for their outstanding contribution and service of volunteerism to humanity enrichment.
Annually, we partner with other nonprofit organizations by going to Jamaica on humanitarian medical mission trips. Such charitable acts are in the form of physical health assessments, treatments, and offering health wellness education. We also donate medical supplies, and equipment to hospitals, clinics, and disabled individuals across the country.
An active member of the Jamaica Diaspora Health Task force.
JNAF have a dynamic choir that serves in the form of music therapy, as complementary medicine that promotes mental wellness for the soul, mind, and body.
