S.C.R.A.P. Gallery

A nonprofit organization

S.C.R.A.P. Gallery addresses two of today's most urgent issues - the environment and the education of our youth. Its mission is to actively engage youth as stewards of their environment through a concentrated, hands-on, educational effort to build a creative culture of sustainability in our schools and community.

The average American discards 4.9 pounds of garbage every day. Without reusing, repurposing, and recycling, we add unneeded pressure to our environment by extracting more and more resources. S.C.R.A.P. Gallery addresses two of today's most urgent issues - the environment and the education of our youth. We work with youth from all over the Coachella Valley to promote conservation and reuse by teaching them to creatively practice the Four R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Responsibility. Students are encouraged to create art from scraps, strips, and stuff by participating in waste prevention field trips at S.C.R.A.P. and through school site visits.

Testimonials

S.C.R.A.P. Gallery❤️ is an amazing organization that I am extremely proud to join in collaboration! We have teamed up in business and charity.
Karen Riley has found a way to educate our next generation in appreciating art and using re-useable materials for that art! This teaches our future to love our precious planet and develop cognitive creativity! Many times I've witnessed the look on young people (and their parents) faces when they create with Karen's guidance….it is so much fun to see the many wide eyed facial expressions of wonder and magic!
