Black and Pink has been my political home for several years, nationally and locally. i'm honored to be serving as board president and to join this fundraising campaign to open the Opportunity Campus!
our executive director Dominique Morgan is peerless in her visioning and making things happen. she and her team have poured a lot into this initiative, from working with Black construction experts to choose a space in a Black neighborhood to planning with local Indigenous people about collaborating in the use of the land to inviting us all to be part of the funding for a sense of community involvement and ownership.
if you give $20 or more and give me your address, i'll mail you a token of appreciation!
the Opportunity Campus will be a housing and community space in omaha, nebraska for LGBTQIA2S+ youth and young adults who are system-impacted. we understand system-impacted to include individuals who have been impacted by such violent carceral systems as incarceration, detention, foster care, and family surveillance.
this initiative will provide housing, wraparound support services, mental health support, daily drop-in services (such as hot meals, showers, food pantry, and laundry), and community programming to system-impacted LGBTQIA2s+ youth, young adults, and their families. all services at the Opportunity Campus will be provided at no cost to our residents and members.
