The ARMS PGO is running a fundraiser to help our educators make this year a success!

You might ask...

Don’t taxes cover all education costs?

The answer is... 

No. Tax dollars only cover the basics, leaving the ARMS PGO responsible for filling in the gaps.

Fundamental aspects of our children’s educational experiences such as field trips and socials are not included in the school budget. Your generous, tax-deductible gift directly funds activities that enhance our children’s school experience.

2022 - 2023 School Year

The ARMS PGO is a nonprofit organization whose membership includes all parents, legal guardians, and staff at ARMS.  Our mission is to create a supportive and welcoming community for students, their families, teachers, and the administration by:

  • planning and hosting events that bring ARMS families together;
  • showing appreciation to our teachers and staff;
  • communicating through our blog and team-specific emails;
  • awarding mini-grants to teachers and staff for programs and materials that help provide additional enrichment experiences for ARMS students; 
  • awarding and funding the ARMS Educator Award;
  • coordinating 7th and 8th grade events, field trips, and an 8th grade move-on ceremony.

 

The PGO is run by a dedicated, group of volunteers, parents and guardians of ARMS students. If you have a student at ARMS. While we organize fundraising events during the year, we also rely heavily on the support of ARMS families.   We have a wonderful community here that is enthusiastic about supporting our kids and our school.

 

In the last years, we have used family donations to:

  • award $2,000 worth of mini-grants to ARMS faculty and staff;
  • provide $5000 in reimbursements to educators to enhance their classrooms
  • provide MCAS snacks and drinks to all of our students;
  • support end-of-the-year field trips for both 7th and 8th grades
  • fund an anti-bullying program at the school;
  • offer Career Day refreshments to speakers;
  • provide refreshments at the monthly Coffee with the Principal;
  • run a Teacher appreciation ad in the Amherst Bulletin;
  • endow and fund the annual ARMS Educator Award prize;
  • sponsor the annual Staff Appreciation luncheon; 
  • plan and host the first annual ARMS Welcome Back picnic;
  • support the Environmental Action Club (EAC);
  • donate for the Teachers/Staff room renovation;
  • organize movie night for students;
  • support the Climate Carnival project;
  • organize the best-ever winter social party for more than 200 students
