Friends of Black Rock-High Rock is a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 1999, dedicated to conservation through monitoring, education and outreach, site clean-ups, site restoration, and trail work in the Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails NCA of Northern Nevada.

“On April 11, 2020, due to the pandemic, Burning Man Project cancelled their annual event  in the Black Rock Desert that draws over 80,000 each year.  Within days of this unprecedented cancellation there was a marked increase in visitation to Nevada’s public lands.  That increase continued all summer long.  The Black Rock Desert has been particularly hard hit, with groups of all sizes camping at popular sites nearly every weekend.  Some of these sites sustained damages beyond simple repair.  One thing we have learned:  It is clear people will continue to use public lands and there is a clear need for organized and credible support for those users.  Needless to say, we must retain this treasured landscape for future generations. That said, your support is urgently needed. ”
