Help Ava Get a Service Dog

$17,525

raised by 14 people

$17,500 goal

At 2 years old, Ava was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome.  This is a disorder that has impacted Ava with the inability to communicate verbally, slowed her perceptive and cognitive abilities, plagues her with frequent seizures, severe anxiety and behavioral challenges making it difficult for her to interact with other children.

Ava has the opportunity now to get a service dog that will help detect her seizures and alert her mother to them before they are fully engaged, as well as help keep her calm as her anxiety flares, and simply providing companionship that every child should have.

Why $20,000?

The dog will be provided by an organization called 4 Paws for Ability (www.4pawsforability.org). They provide highly trained service animals and match them specifically based on the person, the disability and the detection needs.

The organization does not provide the animal for free.  It is at a cost of $17,000.  There is also the cost of the Might Cause account and other various expenses that will be incurred during this process.

Every penny you give will be deposited into an account with 4 Paws to be held until the dog is ready and the full cost accumulated.  Any additional funds will be used solely for the additional costs previously mentioned.

Your support is truly appreciated by Ava, her mother Maritza and everyone who loves them both.

Thank you!
