Help Asha Build a Better World

Hello, my name is Asha Douglass and I am a sophomore at Weston High School. This year, I will be traveling with Builders Beyond Borders (B3) to Guatemala. Builders Beyond Borders is a nonprofit organization, whose mission is to globally, and locally, make a difference in many communities. I volunteer locally, participating in different activities to help my community. I am also the Co-Founder and Co-President of the first One Love Club at my high school, which is an extension of the One Love Foundation. One Love is a national non-profit with the goal of ending relationship abuse, and we are dedicated to educating teens about toxic relationships. Then, in February, my team, Amanacer, will travel to Guatemala to build something for the community in need. Although we have not been informed yet exactly what we are building, it could be a community center, a school, housing, or even plumbing and electricity. 

Last summer, I traveled to the Galápagos Islands on a volunteer trip with Global Leadership Adventures where I helped out the community there in multiple different ways. Working amongst the Galápagos Giant Tortoises, the other teens and I planted trees and plants native to the island of Santa Cruz, and removed invasive species. We also had a blast painting a school in San Cristobal, where we had a transformative experience working with the local community. Throughout both of these islands, I learned how kind people can be, despite the poor conditions they lived in. This trip was eye-opening and reminded me yet again how valuable nature is, and it was so incredibly rewarding because I met so many new people and helped out the community and the environment. 

The money donated on this webpage will not only go towards my traveling expenses, but also towards building supplies and the workers and guides necessary to instruct us how to build efficiently and safely.  I need to reach a total of $2,500 by November 15, and $4,000 by February.
