Sunday Jump has been part of the spoken word community for as long as I can remember. Coming out of the Filipino American community, where I started off as a teen poet, Sunday Jump has to me, been a continuation of the rich legacy of poetry, activism, and performing arts that has been building in Los Angeles for decades. Over the years I have performed and attended Sunday Jump and it has always been a place of comfort, reflection, and community that always feels like a slice of home. Their stalwart dedication to curating, maintaining, and growing this space has insured that generations of poets and performers will always have a place to go to share, get inspired, and learn from one another. It's wonderful to see whole new generations of creative folks get involved and take a moment to check in with one another, beyond phone screens, a place where we can pause for a moment collectively and reflect one another through our joys, pains, struggles, where we can heal, celebrate, flow together and truly connect. Through the years we have "time checked" each time we come together and it's those moments of stillness and listening that are truly memorable and valuable. Please give to Sunday Jump to amplify community arts in Historic Filipinotown!
Sunday Jump is a fiscally sponsored organization by the Pilipino Workers Center. All gifts made to Sunday Jump will be tax-deductible and you will receive a receipt upon finalizing your donation.
