About Me

My name is Emily, I am the Secretary of the TransPonder Board of Directors! I've lived in the Eugene-Springfield area with my partner and our two cats for almost four years now, after originally moving to Oregon so that I could attend graduate school at the University of Oregon. In my free time I like to read, knit, and garden!

Why TransPonder is Important to Me

TransPonder is important to me because of the essential support and access to resources it provides to the transgender and gender-diverse community and its allies. Everything TransPonder does is rooted in community care, advocacy, and authenticity. In 2025 alone, our services impacted the lives of hundreds of individuals and households, helping people feel safe and supported in their minds and bodies. Showing up for my community and making sure everyone has what they need to thrive is important to me and representative of my values, and I'm proud to support this organization. Who is TransPonder?

TransPonder is a trans-founded, trans-led nonprofit serving the transgender and gender-diverse community and its allies across Oregon. They provide resources, education, and community connection rooted in an intersectional approach to justice.

Trans and gender-diverse people exist across every race, ability, age, religion, immigration status, and socioeconomic background. TransPonder is committed to creating inclusive, affirming spaces that recognize how overlapping identities shape lived experiences—through work that collaborates with partner organizations and advances intersectional justice throughout the region.

What does your donation support? (Programs and Services!)

TransPonder supports the community individually, in groups, and institutionally through a wide range of programs:

Community & Connection

• Ongoing support groups, social hours, clubs, and classes
• Identity-centered spaces including QTBIPOC, trans parents, disabled, queer & trans groups, book club, yoga, and more
• Community gatherings and annual events like Trans Day of Visibility, TransWild Forest Frolic, and Trans Day of Remembrance

Health, Wellness, & Basic Needs

• Resource Navigation for mental and physical health care
• Peer support for emotional wellness and life challenges
• Gender-affirming products such as binders, makeup, bras, and more
• Food access, harm reduction supplies, injection supplies, and STI testing

Economic, Practical Support, & Community Infrastructure

• Job skills training and employment navigation
• A vetted Resource Directory connecting people to allied providers from gyms to surgeons and more
• Co-founded The Lavender Network in partnership with other organizations serving the LGBTQIA3+ community in and around Eugene, offering a central location to access resources and support
