API-GBV is the only AANHPI and MENA specific national resource center on gender-based violence.
Survivors of gender-based violence (domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, dating violence) take courageous steps to seek help.
For survivors in Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI), and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) communities, seeking help comes with additional barriers. Oftentimes, generalized or mainstream services lack the trust, knowledge, cultural grounding and history to respond effectively to the layered needs of AANHPI and MENA survivors.
Meet the Staff!
The Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence (API-GBV) is a national resource center on domestic violence, sexual violence, trafficking, and other forms of gender-based violence in Asian/Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander (AANHPI) and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) communities. We envision a world free of gender-based violence for communities with equal opportunities for all to thrive.
Our mission is to disrupt gender-based violence, which causes physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual and economic harm within AANHPI and MENA communities throughout the U.S. and its territories.
We work together with and within our community to:
