What is Giving Tuesday?
#GivingTuesday is an unprecedented global movement of generosity founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Every year, Mightycause hosting a Giving Day on our online giving platform inviting nonprofits and individuals from across America to join together and raise funds for the world-changing causes that matter to them.
How does it work?
On December 3rd, 2024, Mightycause will host a 27-hour giving event encouraging charitable donations through our online giving platform in conjunction with the global #GivingTuesday movement.
Mightycause will provide toolkits, training sessions, outreach support, mass media, and social media coverage to make it easy for all nonprofits to participate. Each participating organization will have an individualized web page to promote their cause. This web page can also be used for year-round online fundraising.
Individuals will be able to donate money to the nonprofit organizations of their choice from November 19th - December 3rd, 2024. All donations are tax-deductible and irrevocable. (Donations will not be refunded). Donors will receive a receipt for their gift. The nonprofit will receive contact information for each donor, unless the donor elects to remain anonymous.
The Mightycause Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that permits donors to advise a re-granting of their donations to other IRS-recognized qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations, will accept the gifts and will then re-grant the monies to the nonprofits selected by the donors.

Why should my organization participate?
We're glad you asked! Giving Tuesday is not your average fundraiser – it's a chance to raise essential funds for your organization, educate the public about your cause, and discover new supporters! It's a day dedicated to giving so by participating you have the opportunity to activate current supporters to spread the word and leverage their networks, reinvigorate lapsed donors, and even turn check-writers into savvy online donors. Plus, why wait for the end of the year? Kick off your fundraising campaign early and set the stage for an exciting and successful giving season ahead.
When a donor makes a donation through Mightycause, the donation is processed through Mightycause Charitable Foundation. Mightycause Charitable Foundation is a donor-advised fund (“DAF”) which is defined by Congress as a public charity that receives completed gifts from donors while allowing donors the privilege of advising on the distribution of their grant to other charities and charitable causes. This allows for the donation to become immediately tax deductible. Mightycause Charitable Foundation will then disburse the donation to the organization specified.
How much of each donation does the nonprofit receive?
Using Mightycause for #GivingTuesday fundraising is cheaper than PayPal. Nonprofits participating in #GivingTuesday are opted into the Mightycause Pricing Guarantee that promises their organization will never see more than 1.99% and 49¢ in processing fees -- and our average processing rate is even less, at 0.95% and 29¢.
