One Night Makes a Huge Difference

Every year I say I am going to participate in a slumber pawty and spend the night with a dog or cat at a shelter. This year it's going to happen!! I am so excited to meet and spend time with a dog or cat that is in need of a home.

Open Door Animal Sanctuary, founded in 1975, is the largest no-kill sanctuary in the greater St. Louis area. We serve the community by taking in stray, abused, neglected and otherwise unwanted cats and dogs and placing them up for adoption. Each day we provide shelter, food, medical care and LOVE to nearly 400 animals. Every animal that comes to us has a home and a second chance at life.  We pride ourselves in making sure the quality of life of our animals is the best it can be.  Our dogs live in heated and air conditioned indoor/outdoor kennels and are walked a minimum of 3 times a day by our staff and volunteers.  They also play in our large outdoor play yards for half the day weather permitting.  Our cats are housed in free roaming catteries and have access to climbing structures, window perches, and many staff and volunteers to provide them enrichment.
