This year for #givingtuesday2021 we are asking for the following support:
General operating support -- $30,000
- We are a small team of 4 full time and 4 part-time employees.
- Many of our grants are restricted funding to be used only towards programming or site development.
- We depend on the sales of our organic vegetables to pay for our operating expenses as well as the wages of our two farmers, CSA coordinator, administrative assistant and volunteer coordinator.
- Our team is small yet mighty! With only 2 farmers we grow on 20 acres of land!
- Our sales revenue is modest, especially since we sell our produce at 50% off market value in order to make organic produce accessible to those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity.
- RECENTLY we had extremely strong winds damage some of our most crucial operating resources.
- the roof to our greenhouse collapsed
- our giant whiteboard used for planning was broken
- some of our banana trees fell down and did not survive
your contribution allows us to
- pay our farmers livable wages
- teach organic and sustainable farming practices at a critical time
- offer high-quality organic produce at $1.00/pound for community members facing food insecurity and poverty.
- host free nutrition and cooking classes to the community in order to raise awareness on healthy eating
- improve collective health in our community which is facing a myriad of health concerns related to unhealthy foods.
- maintain our equipment allowing us to serve our community
Ways to Support:
- Make a donation:
- your one-time donation of $25, $50, $100, $250, or $500 can make a direct impact on our capacity to increase our production and maintain our prices low for the residents of San Bernardino County.
- your one-time donation of $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 will make a direct impact on our ability to improve our reach by upgrading our old, broken down farm tools and greenhouse.
- your one-time donation of $50,000 will cover one year's salary for one of our farmers.
- your monthly donation of $25 or $50 will ensure a family in need receives bi-weekly harvest boxes for free.
