Arcadia Garden Club Incorporated

A nonprofit organization

For nearly 90 years, the Arcadia Garden Club (AGC) has done more than plant gardens — we’ve planted community, pride, and purpose. Founded in 1937 by local women with a passion for beautification and horticulture, we continue their legacy of hands-on service, education, and care for our planet.

Our beloved clubhouse, built in 1962 through bake sales, rummage drives, and community donations, still stands as a symbol of what teamwork can grow. With help from the Selby Foundation’s Small & Mighty Grant, we replaced our aging roof — proof that even small groups can make mighty change.

Today, we’re growing the next generation of gardeners. We teach children at the Boys & Girls Club that plants are food, medicine, and joy. We help seniors at the Friendship Center start herb gardens that support health and connection. We lead workshops at the DeSoto Library Community Garden, host Plant Camp, and give away seeds, trees, and native plants at local events.

Every project shares one goal: to empower people to grow — in spirit, skill, and self-confidence.

This year, thanks to a new United Way Suncoast ACE Grant, we’re building a greenhouse that will help us grow thousands of plants and expand our educational programs.

Your Giving Tuesday donation keeps our mission thriving — maintaining our historic clubhouse, supporting free community programs, and helping every DeSoto County (and beyond!) resident discover the joy and healing that come from getting their hands in the soil.

Help us plant the next seed of success. 🌱
