Bated Breath Theatre Company Launches the

NEW YORK CENTER FOR IMMERSIVE THEATER

Bated Breath Theatre Company (Voyeur, Chasing Andy Warhol) announces the launch of the NEW YORK CENTER FOR IMMERSIVE THEATER (NYCIT), a real and metaphorical space where the future of theatrical audience engagement can be envisioned, composed, pushed, revised, and shared with audiences. This new venue for the development and presentation of new immersive work as well as actor training, located at 205 East 42nd Street, is made possible by ChaShaMa. According to Artistic Director Mara Lieberman, who was selected by Time Out in 2022 as one of “50 Amazing People Changing the World," the NEW YORK CENTER FOR IMMERSIVE THEATER will "stretch what is possible for immersive theater through experimentation, archival exploration and analysis, training, mentorship, multidisciplinary collaboration, and performance. As much as what we know and love is being marginalized, we see the call to bring the power of immersive theater from the margins to the center, as a force for inspiration, creativity, and change."
