Bay Area Urban Debate League

Welcome to the 2019 Champions of Diversity Challenge! 

We create debate teams and transform the lives of students that traditional classrooms fail to engage.  Over the past three years, we have doubled in size, helping hundreds of students across the Bay Area to reverse their trajectory from low expectations to high achievement.  We serve more than 400 young people. At least 90% students of color, and over 80% are eligible for free/reduced lunch.

Nationally, less than half of low-income high school seniors make it to college, and rates are even worse in the under-resourced public schools we serve.  In contrast, after digging into the intellectual challenge of debate, 100% of BAUDL seniors graduated high school last school year and over 80% go to college.
