About The Dented Puck Foundation

At The Dented Puck Foundation, we believe in shattering limitations and rewriting the narrative of what's possible. We are a grassroots, peer-led nonprofit dedicated to empowering the blind and visually impaired to experience the thrill of competition and forge lasting connections through the sport of blind hockey. Our mission is to build a global support system, grow awareness, and provide accessible events for our community.

What is Blind Hockey?

Blind hockey is a modified version of ice hockey for players who are legally blind. The sport uses a larger, hollow steel puck with ball bearings, which makes noise as it slides on the ice. The nets are also smaller, and a special rule requires the offense to make a pass in the attacking zone before they can shoot, which helps the goalie, who is often completely blind, track the puck by sound.

Why Your Donation Matters

For many, blind hockey is more than just a game; it's a lifeline. It provides a community, a sense of purpose, and an opportunity to compete and grow. The visually impaired community often faces significant challenges, including a major wage gap and limited access to transportation. Your donation to The Dented Puck Foundation directly supports the growth of blind hockey throughout the United States by helping us:

  • Subsidize player costs for events, including travel and lodging.

  • Create opportunities for new players to try the sport.

  • Host events that showcase the incredible abilities of our athletes.

Your gift, no matter the size, helps us grow the game and empower our athletes. This Giving Tuesday, help us provide an assist to those who need it most.
