Charitys Readers for Tomorrow

Charity’s Readers For Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization founded by author C.M. Harris. Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading by providing diverse, inclusive, and empowering books to children in underserved schools and communities, because every child deserves to see themselves in a story.

Through book donations, classroom read-alouds, and community literacy events, we’re ensuring all children, regardless of background or ability, have access to stories that reflect empathy, kindness, and hope.

At Charity’s Readers For Tomorrow, we believe every child deserves to open a book and see themselves reflected in its pages. Representation in children’s literature is more than words and pictures — it’s belonging. It’s the moment a child with a disability sees a character who moves, speaks, or learns like they do and realizes their story matters too.

Far too often, classrooms lack books that reflect the beautifully diverse world we live in. Children of color, children with disabilities, and those from unique family backgrounds deserve to read stories that celebrate their identities instead of overlooking them. Inclusive books help all children develop empathy, understanding, and respect for differences — values that shape a kinder, more connected generation.

Founded by award-winning author C.M. Harris, who lives with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Charity’s Readers For Tomorrow was created to change what children see and feel when they read. Through diverse and disability-inclusive stories, we are helping students recognize that their differences are their strengths and that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued.

By providing these books to schools and communities that need them most, we’re building a foundation of kindness, representation, and acceptance — one story at a time. Because when every child sees themselves in a story, they learn to believe in what’s possible
