$5,000 Goal

DC Food Project launched in 2018 to provide school children and their families access to additional food resources during the school day and over the weekends when school meals are not available to them. Our non-profit fills what we refer to as "the gap" -- what happens when lunch is over? This gap has an impact on tens of thousands of students, with 1 in 5 children struggling with hunger in DC alone.

Since our inception seven years ago, our team has provided 5 million meals to students, families and seniors through our various programs in hopes we can be a part of the solution to eliminate hunger in Washington DC and the surrounding area.

Our Programs:

  • Pantry Program - The Pantry Program is designed as a place where students can discreetly receive food and other items they need either throughout the school day, when the school day has ended and/or over the weekends.
  • Share Table Program - Share tables provide a place for unopened/uneated foods that students choose not to eat during school breakfast and lunch. These tables offer other students to take additional helpings of food, while aiding in the reduction of food waste.

How will your donation impact DC Food Project’s programming:

  • Funding allows DC Food Project to continue providing support to 70+ schools throughout Washington, DC and Northern Virginia.
  • It will help DC Food Project stock school Pantries, by delivering over 15,000 lbs of food to children per monthly distribution.
  • It will also allow DC Food Project to onboard new Pantry schools.  These pantries allow students to access a broad range of necessities that include food and personal products on an as needed basis.

Those who benefit from your support are among our community’s most vulnerable. Our team reflects daily on the meaning of food – as a basic need and also as a way to gather as a community in sharing and in providing for each other. Join our mission to end hunger and support those who need it the most.  DONATE TODAY!

Thank you-
