At Green Halo Scholars, we know you want to have a hand in supporting the dreams of young adults in our community. We believe every donation you make, big or small, should have a direct impact on the success of our students. That is why we do everything possible to steward your money wisely and provide financial transparency so you can be assured your contributions make a difference.
Here are some ways your donations have made an impact over the last year:
- We nearly cut in half the average financial gap of our Class of 2026 from the prior year, and 16 scholars had their full demonstrated financial need met by the college they chose to attend. This group received $4.48 million in grants and scholarships from the colleges they chose to attend – a $28,000 increase per student from the previous year.
- Our current scholars, the Class of 2027, have already submitted 225 college applications and counting. They’re applying to colleges across the country and competing for competitive scholarships like the QuestBridge National College Match Program.
- We’ve added our first College Success Coach to our team. Melissa Burke is a former school counselor who is committed to supporting our alumni – current college students – on their paths through college. She checks in regularly with our alumni, ensuring that they’re making satisfactory academic progress and providing them with relevant information and tools to be successful young adults.
- Speaking of alumni, Ash Ebihkumi, a Green Halo alumnus studying at Illinois State University, was recently elected to serve on the Illinois State University Board of Trustees. Ash is a junior studying Political Science and Economics, and attended Hinsdale South High School. Ash also served as our summer intern -- giving him hands-on work experience while also helping us grow.
By donating to Green Halo Scholars, you're helping us serve first-generation and low-income college-bound students on their paths to and through college.
