The League of Environmental Educators in Florida (LEEF) needs your support to continue our climate education workshops, member outreach events and student-led action project mini-grant programs in 2024! LEEF is a professional, membership-based 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary role is to connect environmental educators throughout Florida through our networks of support.
According to our statewide Environmental Education survey, teachers need more resources in order to feel comfortable bringing students outside to learn. In partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University's Whittaker School of Education and the NOAA B-WET program, LEEF launched Florida's first Climate Education Advisory Council in 2022 with 21 members from school districts, water management districts, non-profit education organizations and resiliency offices. The Council has built a website of quality climate education resources for Florida teachers launching in Winter 2023 and will host teacher training workshops across Florida in 2024. We need funding to continue the Council's work in 2024.
Your donations will also provide funding for student-led environmental action projects, regional member engagement events and support our Annual Statewide Environmental Education Conference in March 2024. If you care about environmental education in Florida and, if you feel the work we are doing is important, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to LEEF. We cannot do it without you!
LEEF is one of the country’s oldest associations supporting environmental education, and is the state affiliate of the North American Association for Environmental Education. With individual and organizational members, LEEF includes people from all walks of life – teachers, administrators, post-secondary students, non-formal educators, government and agency personnel, business and industry representatives, and private citizens. LEEF works with members and partners to bring sound environmental education to all Floridians from early childhood education and continuing past post-secondary education. LEEF envisions a population that values the natural world and has the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions and take responsible actions.
