Are We Not a Project?
Billions surge like rivers wide,
Flooding distant shores with pride
Golden torrents crash and spill
Yet here at home, we thirst—until
We watch the storm of dollar bills
Whirl through the air in dazzling swirls,
Ten, twenty, fifty, hundreds soar,
But none drift softly to our door.
Beneath neon lights and city haze
We huddle in the alley’s maze
Rain-soaked cardboard, bitterly cold
our stories whispered, never told
The world’s applause, a distant sound
While hunger gnaws and hope unwound.
Have you seen us—shadows curled
On concrete beds in corners furled?
Skin stretched thin on hollow frames,
Eyes like lanterns, burning flames
We reach with trembling, empty hands
For kindness lost in distant lands.
Do you hear our stomachs groan,
The echo of a muted moan?
Tears carve rivers down our cheeks,
As silent pleas—“Save me”—leak
Into the night, unheard, unseen
Where mercy fades and hearts grow lean
Do you smell the city’s breath?
A blend of sickness, sweat, and death?
Clothes stained by rain and time,
Bodies aching, past their prime.
We linger where the shadows dwell,
With stories we can barely tell.
Entertainers, corporations gleam,
Selling hope and silver dreams.
They stride on stages, shining bright,
Forgetting streets lost to the night.
We cheered their rise, spent our last dime,
Now, who will answer in our time?
We die for lack of food and care,
Shelter, water, medicine are rare.
We gave our dollars, cheered your fame—
Now, who will answer to our name?
Why is the world’s great suffering
More urgent than our own offering?
Why do we turn our eyes away
From those who need our help today?

Why This Poem Matters?
This poem speaks for the men, women, children, seniors, and individuals with physical or mental health challenges who seek safety and support through our program.
Our mission
It is simple but powerful: to decrease homelessness through holistic support that empowers individuals and families to rebuild their lives. Every contribution helps us provide safe emergency housing, personalized case management, and real-time life skills training for those facing homelessness—including families, seniors, and individuals with physical or mental health challenges.
Your fundraiser
Supports a program built on dignity, stability, and transformation.
Funds
Your fundraiser makes a direct impact by supporting:
Each participant receives individualized support based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs—ensuring safety first, then guiding them toward long-term stability, healing, and employment.
Summer Camp for Our Children
Many of the children we serve have experienced instability, trauma, and uncertainty. A Summer Camp gives them something many have never had: a safe place to learn, play, explore, heal, and simply be kids.
The camp provides:
• Nutritious meals and snacks
• Educational enrichment and tutoring
• Outdoor activities and sports
• Art, music, and creative therapy
• Field trips and nature outings
• Social-emotional support from trained staff
• A stable, joyful environment away from the stress of homelessness
Your support ensures no child is left behind during the summer months when school is closed, and families need the most help.
By launching your own fundraiser, you become part of someone’s success story. Your efforts help provide clean temporary housing, meals, toiletries, and access to community partnerships that open doors to employment and independence.
Together, we can help every person who comes to us stabilize, grow, and thrive.
Call to Action
Open hearts and hands today—
See the need that will not stray.
