Miami-Dade Scholastic Hockey Association Inc

The MIAMI-DADE SCHOLASTIC HOCKEY ASSOCIATION (“MDSHA”) is a county-wide ice hockey program comprised of scholar/athletes from various public and private Miami-Dade high schools.  Our program competes in the Florida Panthers Scholastic Hockey League (FPSHL) against various teams from Broward and Palm Beach high schools.  Until we were able to organize this program in 2010, high school level ice hockey was unavailable to Miami-Dade County student/athletes.

The sport of hockey provides a unique set of benefits and skills to student-athletes, including physical and mental health.  From learning valuable life lessons, building teamwork and self-confidence, and establishing life-long relationships, there are many reasons why we love the sport of ice hockey.  Hockey provides a structure for student-athletes to develop strength, agility, endurance, and learning to overcome challenges . . . while having fun with close friends.  Hockey also teaches student-athletes how to work together as a team and make strategic decisions on the ice, giving them a sense of accomplishment when they play well together, and learning opportunities if they don’t.  Lastly, participating in hockey can help build self-esteem and confidence in student-athletes as they learn new skills, balance scholastic and competitive sport commitments, and gain an appreciation for their own abilities.

Each hockey season has its own hurdles and Miami-Dade Hockey - the Southernmost US high school hockey program - has no shortage.  From dedicated student/athletes needing financial assistance, coordinating travel for practices and games, balancing traditional and distanced learning with a non-traditional sport, transitioning former players to coaches, supporting community service, and acquiring ice time (just to name a few), your contributions support our program and these dedicated young men and women to follow Florida’s road less traveled . . . competitive high school ice hockey!

Our goal this Give Miami Day is to raise $50,000.  Your donations will directly impact players and families to support their participation in their chosen sport of ice hockey.  Your donations will be used exclusively for financial assistance to underprivileged hockey players, development of coaches and teaching certifications, practice ice time, the senior night/game and team equipment/supplies.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated.  The more you give, the more we can do!  Our student-athletes, your children, whether current players or alumni, will be grateful and better off for your contributions.
