NCEDSV was founded in 1980 to work toward the elimination of violence against all people. NCEDSV was formed by local domestic violence programs to play an active role in advocating with policy makers, providing training and technical assistance to community-based domestic and sexual violence programs, and educating allied professionals and the general public about the complex issues surrounding domestic and sexual violence.

Last year NCEDSV (formerly known as NNADV) distributed more than 75,000 brochures, victim information cards and handbooks; conducted 52 trainings enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of 833 individuals; participated in more than 135 networking events providing information about domestic violence and services available in Nevada; and made 49 site visits to communities throughout the state to provide support and resources. In addition, NCEDSV administered more than one million dollars in assistance to fund shelters, hotlines and support services.

From five programs in 1980 to fifteen programs in 2017—serving all seventeen counties in Nevada—our ability to work as a coalition has changed the way Nevada thinks and acts about domestic and sexual violence. Our work is about honoring the strength, bravery, and tenacity of survivors and to make sure that real options are available.
