Project summary:
On October 25, 2024, fire burnt school dormitory at Salama School of visually impaired children in Kisoga Mukono Uganda destroying both school and children’s property. Eleven students lost their lives with six survivors. The survivors are admitted in the hospital and need both moral and urgent financial support to meet the hospital bills and basic needs. Please donate to support our cause, help restore hope, and fight the stigma these children are going through. We will make every EURO count to help these children feel loved.
Challenge:
The negative social attitudes, misconceptions, and prejudices about the blind have left these children without hope. Further, these are girls 6-17 years from deprived backgrounds who have lost one or both parents.
Solution:
The need and importance of such support is crucial given the rather vulnerable socio-economic conditions of visually impaired children in most areas. They urgently need supplies of items like shoes, medicines, schoolbags, towels, sweaters, jackets, cutlery, clothes, mosquito nets, dry food items, bedsheets, sanitary towels, blankets, bedcovers, reading materials & story books, novels, tents, raincoats, school supplies, lotions, and shavers. , PIDA-Uganda is asking for support to address the current challenges facing the visually impaired children and their caregivers at Salama School of the blind.
