PFLAG Bowie/Prince George's County

All of us, across races, places and genders, deserve the freedom to be ourselves. Some people are trying to keep power by dividing our communities, but PFLAG is where LGBTQ+ people, families and allies come together. We can make Prince George's County and Maryland a place that includes all of us - a place where we are all free to thrive and support each other for who we are. 

Our all-volunteer team needs resources! Your tax-deductible donation will support:  

• Belonging. Expand support groups for family, friends, and allies of LGBTQ+ people.
• Education. Share PFLAG National’s excellent resources. Our top requests in 2025 were “Supporting your LGBTQ Grandchild,” “Our Children,” “Guide to Being An Ally to Trans and Nonbinary People”
• LGBTQIA+ rights. Connect and collaborate with groups throughout PG county, PFLAG chapters throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and national advocacy events
• Outreach. Show up and share PRIDE in at least 10 community events!
• Fun! Host gatherings and game nights

Our goal for these activities is $2,000. Every dollar helps!

Our story started with a knock on Connie's door

The rainbow windsock on Connie's front porch was a symbol of pride. 
For one boy in her neighborhood - a stranger to Connie - that rainbow was a beacon of hope. 
Bravely, the boy knocked on Connie's front door. He asked for her advice on coming out to his parents. 

Connie offered the boy support. She also looked for resources in our community of Prince George's County, Maryland. Finding none, she asked me and others for help. Together, in 2023, we created PFLAG Bowie/Prince George's County, a proud local chapter of the excellent national PFLAG organization. Thanks for supporting our outreach!
