🎵 Music for Everyone - That’s What We’re About

At the Portland Metro Community Band, we believe music should be for everyone. Our group brings together musicians from all walks of life - teachers, students, retirees, parents, lifelong players, and those picking up their instruments again after years away - to rehearse, perform, and grow together.

For many of our members, this band is the only place they can play in an ensemble of this level. It’s more than music -  it’s friendship, confidence, and the joy of performing for a real audience.

And the best part? Every one of our concerts is completely free. That means high-quality live music stays open to everyone, no matter who they are, their age, no matter their income.

We play all over the Portland area - in parks, community centers, and retirement homes - bringing together families, students, and especially older adults who may not have easy access to live performances. Whether you arrive by car, bus, or walker, there’s always a seat waiting for you and a tune that’ll make you smile.

Our music covers everything from Broadway hits and jazz favorites to marches, world traditions, and classical pieces. Every concert offers something new, something familiar, and something that’ll surprise you. Behind the scenes, we also care for a huge library of sheet music - repairing, organizing, and preserving it so the music can keep playing for years to come.
