Pumpkins For Pigs (PFP)’s mission is to prevent food waste by connecting community members with local farms, rescues, and sanctuaries so good food feeds animals not landfills. Together, we reduce food waste one pumpkin at a time.

PFP was created to fill a gap—to give people and businesses a simple way to make good use of leftover pumpkins, backyard extras, hay, straw, evergreens, kiddie pools (for the ducks!), and more. Today, we’ve built a growing network of farms and animal organizations that anyone can access to donate items that still have value.

30-40% of food in the U.S. is wasted, and 1.2 billion pumpkins are grown every year—most of which end up in landfills, where they contribute to methane emissions. When food is thrown away, we lose far more than squash or snacks; we waste the water, soil, labor, energy, and resources that went into producing it.

Our belief is simple: when people have better choices, they make them. And that’s what PFP provides—real, local, sustainable options that build better habits season by season, person by person, community by community.

We have big plans for 2026—bigger than our current fundraising goal—and we need your help to make them real. Even though our reach is wide, our work is local: your town, your farmers, your neighbors.
