$20,000 Goal

Redstone was founded in 2021 with one goal in mind: help in some of the hardest to help places.

Northern and Working breed dogs find themselves in shelters or lost on streets simply by being who they are at heart: busy working dogs. This was our mission and our passion to provide a safe place for those dogs to regain their footing and find safe homes for ever after rescue.

Often times training and medical care in shelter and rescue situations can be bare minimum and our goal here at Redstone is to provide high quality in both areas to provide the best chances of success for each dog.

We are a Fear Free focused organization and aim to make each dog's life a little less scary with each new, brighter day.

We often focus on those in a high risk situation that need just a little extra help before becoming fully adoptable. Sometimes this means a dog that is behaviorally stable, but needs some medical support to get to a healthy status to be desirable to a new home. Sometimes this means working through fear for dogs that are otherwise healthy. We focus on where we can make the most change for not only an individual, but the needs of the community as a whole.

When Ansem came to us he was a complete shadow of what he once was. Mange covered his entire body and you could barely see the Husky that was under all that damage. His spirit was bright and kind, though, and while we knew it would take a lot of nursing care and time to help him recover, we wanted to give him that new life he deserved. He needed extensive dental work with the removal of several broken teeth and a mass on his tail, but in the end he got in the car with his adopter from out of state and never looked back.

Solsitce and her sister Equinox came to us from Houston where they were found in poor condition wandering the street and they were never reclaimed. Solstice started out already very emotionally broken and her time in the shelter did her only one favor: it got her off the street and helped her get to us. Through several months of gentle interactions and just the right amount of pushing her outside her comfort zone, she gained so much confidence in herself and she moved on to an adoptive home out of state where she is thriving every day. Her sister Equinox remains in our care still searching for a home to call her own.

We don't just look at the dogs directly in our care here at Redstone. We also take into consideration what we can do to help our community in many other ways. Pet Retention projects are key to keeping pets in loving homes and out of our shelter and rescue system, now more than ever.

This past year we have been involved in our community in more ways than we were able to before.

Nova stayed with us for several months while her family was in the process of moving and found themselves without their own home in the between time. While with us, we were able to bring her up to date on her vaccines, spay her, microchip her, deworm her, and help her learn some valuable life skills with the other dogs. At the time she was ready to return home, supporters purchased her a kennel, a large bag of food, several treats, toys, and other essential items to set them all up for success.

We have become more involved with our stray population in rural Texas and have spent days trapping and helping those that feed these dogs to find safe placement for them. One pack in Eustace, another in Powell, and various other dogs we have offered help to so their caretakers can do the best they can. At times we are able to intake a stray, like our sweet girl Jimmi, but when we can't we can still offer help.

We were also involved and powered by donors to assist with a free vaccine and wellness clinic in San Antonio this year. We were able to help provide heartworm tests and food to those in need while other rescues and professionals came together and helped with other vaccines, dewormer, microchips and food!

We have helped with donations to our local shelters when we have items that we are either retiring from use, or that will expire before we are able to use them. The shelter can always find a use for something we either can't use or won't be able to prior to expiration. One instance was that we went and performed over 30 heartworm tests for their canine population to help give them more information for their adopters or for potential rescue partners so they can make informed decisions. We actually went back and picked up one of the longest stay shelter residents that we met while there because she touched our hearts so much.

Ultimately, we here at Redstone try to do as much as we possibly can for animal welfare and the rescue and shelter industry by leading by example and hoping for the widest and longest lasting impact for change in this area. We know we can't save every dog, but for those that we can help we will do what is rigth by them with their interests put first always.

Please join us as we change the world for one dog at a time.
