Remote Area Medical

Established in 1985, with a mission to prevent pain and alleviate suffering, Remote Area Medical (RAM®) provides free, quality healthcare to those in need through the operation of telehealth and mobile pop-up clinics offering dental, vision, and medical services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved across the nation.

Since our founding, RAM has benefitted from the dedication of more than 212,000 volunteers— primarily licensed healthcare professionals and pre-professional students— who have collectively delivered free healthcare services valued at well over $200 million to over 950,000 patients. RAM is also supported by a modest staff of 70 based at its headquarters in Rockford, Tennessee.

RAM provides all the equipment, supplies, and logistical expertise to operate our clinics, as well as the capability to transport those supplies and equipment to any location from coast to coast.

In 2023, by invitation in communities from Alaska to Vermont, RAM provided nearly $11M in free healthcare to more than 29,900 patients in 21 states.

We have been featured on 60 Minutes, Dateline, the Washington Post, and more. Two feature length documentaries have highlighted our mission and the work we do. In 2024, Medicine Man: The Stan Brock Story premiered in London and debuted worldwide on streaming platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Tubi, and Roku.
