Mission

Founded in 2020, Salish Current reports local news — always freely accessible to all — with independence, transparency and strict journalistic integrity, providing fact-based information and a forum for civil civic commentary. Our coverage spans the vital aspects of a strong, healthy community, and promotes diversity, equity and inclusion:

     • local government

     • public health and safety

     • housing and homelessness

     • environment

     • social justice

     • education

     • agriculture, industry and commerce.

Ethics and Transparency

Our support comes from donors whose generosity makes local journalism available to all, and strengthens democracy in the process. Names of donors, board members and staff are available to the public.

We are guided by and adhere to the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics.
