 When a car spins out on a rain-slicked freeway, when a swimmer is pulled under by a sudden rip current, when a family flees a wildfire in the middle of the night, San Diego’s firefighters, lifeguards, paramedics, and dispatchers are already on their way. They show up in our most vulnerable moments with courage, skill, and compassion, often placing themselves in harm’s way to save the lives of people they may never meet again.
