Tabu Academy

TABU Academy is a 501c3 non-profit in North Miami aiming to physically & mentally uplift underserved youth ages 7 to 18 with sports and education. We provide free sports programs, tutoring, and nutritious snacks year-round. Our youth train with certified trainers using evidence-based techniques to guide their workouts. While developing physical performance is the main goal of the Academy, we also aim to enhance their mental performance – focusing on skills like leadership, concentration, managing emotions, teamwork, positive self-talk, and sportsmanship. Our educational lessons cover everything from healthy eating for optimal performance & disease prevention to saving & investing. Our youth are largely minorities from low-income backgrounds. TABU Academy stands in the gap of social and structural inequalities for these kids – challenging them to grow and inspiring them to reach beyond the low ceiling society has placed above them. After all, we aren’t just creating future athletes, we are creating future leaders!
