Answering the pressing need for affordable housing in Westford, Massachusetts, the non-profit The Drew Farmhouse, Inc was founded in 2023 to convert the 1865 Drew Farmhouse at 70 Boston Road into five “workforce affordable” apartments while preserving the historic exterior of this town landmark.Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell soon signed on to convert the barn into two three-bedroom homes where Habitat-eligible families will be chosen to live. While five apartments and two homes might be a small step, it is a significant one, providing an example of how workforce affordable housing can work in Westford.
