Together we change lives!

Founded in 2012, Together We Bake has graduated 15 teams, a total of 119 amazing women! Our results have been excellent:

  • 90% completion rate (or even higher considering some team members leave the program early for employment, education or housing opportunities!)
  • 90% of the women passage rate for the ServSafe exam, a nationally recognized Food Safety certification course
  • 70% of graduates are currently employed.  The women formed strong bonds with their teammates, resulting in a support network that was direly needed.
  • 7% recidivism rate (compared with the state's average of 40% and the national average of 70%).  70% of TWB team members have a criminal conviction in their past.

Together We Bake is an empowerment-based workforce training program for women in need of a second chance. Our program is centered around a small baking business through which women actively learn and participate in food production, food safety education, and customer service. We also teach empowerment and life-skills classes to help women develop self-confidence, healthy coping strategies, and a strong support network as they move toward self-sufficiency.  Each woman graduates job-ready, empowered, and with a nationally-recognized ServSafe certificate, resulting in preferential hiring and higher wages.

TWB creates a community of strong, sober, employed women who feel connected to their community. TWB not only helps women become self sufficient and responsible members of society, but also helps improve the lives of their children (83% of our graduates are mothers). The business community benefits by having a pool of strong, motivated prospective employees.
