$5,000 Goal

Agriculture is the backbone of America.

Utah Agricultural Land Trust provides education to agricultural landowners, government officials and the public on benefits of agriculture in America with specific focus on agriculture in Utah.  Our goal is preservation of private family-owned farms and ranches in Utah and to emphasize the importance of Utah-grown food crops, grains, dairy and livestock to nutrition and food security in America.  UALT is an entity that holds conservation easements which are placed on private agricultural lands and providing continual (annual) monitoring of those easements to assure that the property remains productive agricultural land for generations to come.

  • 2.7 million acres of Utah farmland has been lost to development in the last 60 years.
  • That is 20% of Utah Farmlands lost!

We at UALT are working to reverse that trend and continue this important cultural heritage.

UALT assists these independent ag producers in accessing federal and state grant funding for establishing conservation easements on their properties, protecting this ag land in perpetuity.

Did you know... agricultural lands provide important environmental benefits such as:

Carbon sequestration occurs on open ground
Aquifer and groundwater recharge
Natural grass restoration through proper livestock grazing
With the maintenance of agricultural lands wildlife migration continues.

CASCADE FARMS— 20-acre Cascade Farms, in west Provo, sits along a well-used walking trail that leads to Utah Lake and the Provo River Delta.  Owners Colton and Alicia Burr are committed to preserving the property with a conservation easement - a move that will provide scenic benefits as well as activities for the entire community:

Located just across from 500 acres of already protected ag land (Despain Ranch), Cascade Farms adds to the richness of open landscapes and pastoral settings enjoyed by all.  Funding for protection of this property has been tentatively awarded by USDA, Utah Dept. of Agriculture's LeRay McAllister Working Farm and Ranch fund and the Utah State Outdoor Initiative.

If you would like to be a Conservation Champion, please join us by contributing financially to the Cascade Farms Fundraising Campaign.
