Who We Are
VMSC Emergency Medical Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the greater Northeast Pennsylvania region. We were founded in 1933 by Dr. Frank Erdman Boston a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel in World War I, a pioneering African American physician, and a visionary leader who believed every community deserves fast, compassionate, and professional emergency care.
Today, 90 years later, we continue that mission with pride, purpose, and urgency. Powered by our guiding values of loyalty, mercy, and humanity, VMSC remains a trusted EMS provider and a lifeline for the communities we serve delivering advanced pre-hospital care, rapid emergency response, and community health education. Dr. Boston’s legacy lives on in every ambulance we dispatch, every life we stabilize, and every neighbor we serve.
