Brandy Station Foundation

A nonprofit organization

The Brandy Station Foundation owns and operates the Graffiti House in Brandy Station.  The Civil War-era Graffiti House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The walls, primarily on the second floor, contain drawings, messages, and signatures of Civil War soldiers, both Federal and Confederate. A museum and gift shop are on the first floor of the building.  Volunteers provide regularly scheduled tours. Additional tours are arranged for visitors who contact  the Foundation to schedule tours in advance. The Foundation enjoys providing tours to all kinds of groups: from school groups to family groups to Civil War history organizations to motorcyle enthusiasts. The Foundation sponsors lectures at the Graffiti House. In 2025, we sponsored a bus tour called "Highlights of Culpeper History." In 2026, we are underway with making plans for improving the Graffiti House displays.  Funds raised from Give Local Piedmont in May will be used to purchase new displays to enhance the visitor experience. The 1858 Graffiti House is a unique local landmark and we would appreciate your support!

More About Us

In 2002, the Brandy Station Foundation purchased the Graffiti House, a two-story structure located at 19484 Brandy Road in Brandy Station.  Tours of the Graffiti House as well as Battle of Brandy Station battlefield tours are available thanks to volunteers.

The Brandy Station Foundation hosts numerous community events, both educational and entertaining. We host Civil War lectures, special Graffiti House tours for educators and other groups, and commemorative events. The community also enjoys an annual "Spirits of the Graffiti House" event in October. On Park Day in the spring, Foundation and community members have helped us to beautify preserved battlefield land and the property around and across the road from the Graffiti House.

The Brandy Station Foundation has been instrumental in the preservation of significant tracts of land related to the Battle of Brandy Station (June 9, 1863) and Kelly's Ford (March 17, 1863).  In June 2024, the Brandy Station Foundation donated 22.01 acres on the western approach to Fleetwood Hill for Phase One of the acquisitions for the new Culpeper Battlefields State Park.
