Mission Statement
Common Convo exists to create spaces for authentic storytelling, dialogue, and connection that strengthen the Kentucky and Indiana region. Through documentaries, live events, and community engagement, we amplify underrepresented voices, address critical social issues, and foster understanding across differences. Our mission is to use conversation as a tool for healing, empowerment, and lasting community change.

Common Convo – Building Connection Through Story & Action

For over a decade, Common Convo has been more than discussions—it has been a movement of storytelling, healing, and community in the Kentucky and Indiana region. Through films, live events, and town halls, we create spaces where neighbors, leaders, and changemakers can share experiences, build understanding, and strengthen our communities.

Some highlights of the work you’ve already made possible:

  • Healing in the Valley – a groundbreaking documentary that highlights stories of African Americans living with HIV and investigates how stigma and anti-Black racism increase vulnerability to this disease. Featuring voices of doctors, researchers, faith leaders, outreach workers, and activists, it explores solutions to addressing the HIV epidemic.

  • Matthew 10:42 | Final Wish – a powerful film exploring substance abuse, family, and the dignity of honoring a loved one’s life.

  • Collaborative projects with the Clark County Health Department and NAACP, amplifying health resources and awareness.

  • Our standing Women Empowering Women Breakfast Series uplifts women through connection, mentorship, and inspiration.

  • A decade of community town halls and engagement events—bringing people together across differences to listen, learn, and act.

When you give to Common Convo, you invest in storytelling that heals, events that connect, and projects that empower. Together, we can keep conversations alive that make our region stronger, healthier, and more united.

Why It Matters

  • Amplifying Local Voices: The platform doesn’t just broadcast—it builds. It brings together community members, local leaders, and changemakers to share lived experiences and foster connection. That becomes a foundation for lasting impact.
  • Action, Not Just Talk: Each event is also an opportunity—10% of profits go toward scholarships and grants for local nonprofits focused on supporting Black-owned businesses and youth programs in Clark and Floyd counties. It’s about building infrastructure for change.
  • Healing & Understanding: By addressing systemic racism, generational trauma, and racial injustice head-on, Common Convo sparks conversations that heal divides. It gives space for voices too often silenced or ignored.
