Since 1972, St Matthews Area Ministries (St. MAM) has been a cornerstone of Louisville’s 40207 community, serving residents facing chronic or episodic hardships. As a collaborative member of Louisville’s Association of Community Ministries (ACM), St. MAM also serves half of the 40220 area.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Meet B, a resilient member of our community who found herself in a challenging situation after being laid off. Despite pursuing unemployment benefits and food stamps, she did not qualify. Thankfully, St. Matthews Area Ministries was able to help. With the support of donors like you, we were able to offer B emergency financial assistance for her rent and utilities & supplement her food and personal care needs during this very difficult time.  Happily, now B is on her feet again and a regular volunteer.

In today's economic climate, more and more people are struggling. We have neighbors with children who have been diagnosed with devastating illnesses. Neighbors who have have sustained work-preventing injuries. Neighbors who have had to cut back on their work to provide full-time care for elderly loved ones. Neighbors who are full time students trying to better their lives but finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. Neighbors who are single parents. Neighbors who are struggling with mental illness. Neighbors who need a helping hand.

Will you help us help them? With your continued support, we can ensure that individuals like B receive the assistance and support they need to navigate through challenging times and have the confidence and ability to rebuild their lives. 

What All We Do

To our neighbors who need it most, St. MAM provides emergency financial assistance, helping to prevent utility disconnections and evictions. With a well-stocked food pantry, we ensure that no neighbor goes hungry, offering fresh produce, proteins, non-perishable items, and personal care supplies. Through an early essentials room and seasonal drives, we equip parents and caregivers with necessary items for infants and youth, from diapers to school supplies to holiday gift support. Finally, through its numerous opportunities for individuals to serve, St. MAM provides purpose and meaningful work for hundreds of volunteers at all stages of life. By pulling together, St. MAM is creating a brighter future for the entire community.
