22' Giving Tuesday: Support Girl Now, Woman Later

Help us end the period poverty dilemma for girls in Burkina Faso, a region with the 7th highest child marriage rate in the world. A 2019 study by AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL “found that 52% of the women in Burkina Faso currently between 20-24 years of age were married before age 18.” This means less than half of the girls complete a basic education.

Girl Now Woman Later wants to change these statistics by supporting girls to complete their education and empowering them with knowledge about their bodies to end the social stigma of mensturation.  

In less than 2 years, we have provided 3 women’s health workshops to more than 100 girls. Of that group, 90% hadn't received menstrual health education prior to the workshop. We have also provided over 200 feminine hygiene products to girls so they can continue to attend school when mensurating, since they do not have much access to menstural products.

$20.00.....A uniform for 1 schoolgirl.

$60.00.....A year of school supplies and a uniform for 1 schoolgirl.

$100.00...Pairs of shoes for 5 schoolgirls.

$200.00...A 3-month supply of feminine products for 200 schoolgirls.

$300.00...A school year of enrollment fees, school supplies, and a bag of rice or corn for the families of 2 schoolgirls. (This encourages families to keep their girls in school). 

$500.00...A menstural workshop for 50 schoolgirls (with a hearty lunch).
