Join us as we change the face of outdoor recreation and education in Black Rock Country!

With your help…

A Community Reinvestment Grant has allowed us to acquire a small, rugged fleet of e-bikes, create maps and field guides and launch a series of educational tours focusing on experiential learning—geology, gems and minerals, birds, plants, cultural and indigenous history. 

Gerlach-Empire has always been more boom than bust but people and families here are resilient, skilled, and entrepreneurial.

We will be working with the community to train local interpretive guides and staff and bring educational tours to the area.

Gerlach-Empires greatest opportunity is its location to the largest and most extraordinary recreational areas—the Black Rock Desert High Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and that our non-profit is uniquely positioned to work with the community and partner to create jobs in the ecotourism industry.

And we will be hosting artist, educators, speakers and guides and trainers over the season to help us do our work. 

We need your help transforming our historic building into a Black Rock Welcome-Education Center to make improvements and  purchase of workspaces equipment like laptops, printers, a digital projector, whiteboards, and office furniture.
