A quick update from Solace 💙💛

Update posted 17 days ago

We’re officially licensed.

After months of building, planning, and waiting—we can finally begin caring for patients and families here in Southwest Virginia. That part still feels a little surreal.

But here’s the piece most people don’t see: There’s a gap between being ready to care and being reimbursed for that care.

Right now, we are actively preparing to serve patients during a phase where we are not yet receiving payment from Medicare or insurance. At the same time, the day-to-day costs of running a hospice don’t pause—staffing, medications, equipment, insurance, our EMR, and simply keeping the doors open so we can answer the phone when someone calls for help.

As a nonprofit hospice, we’ve made a commitment from the very beginning:
If someone qualifies for hospice care, we will not turn them away due to a lack of insurance or ability to pay.
We mean that.

Community support is what makes that possible right now.

If you’ve been following our journey, sharing our posts, encouraging us, or telling someone about Solace—you’ve already been part of this. Truly.

If you’ve been thinking about making a donation, this is the moment where it directly helps us continue showing up for patients and families who need us.

Solace Hospice of Southwest Virginia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

We’re here. We’re ready. And because of this community, we’re able to begin. If you would like to see examples of specific ways that you can make a difference, check out our photos!

With gratitude, always—
Shanna & the Solace team

Rural Roots. Uncompromising Care. 💙💛

Solace Hospice of Southwest Virginia began with one belief: our neighbors deserve expert, compassionate hospice care close to home — not owned by a corporation, or an insurance company, but rooted right here in our community.

After years of serving families in hospice, I saw firsthand what rural Southwest Virginia needed — and what was missing. But this hospice was never meant to be mine alone. It has been built for — and with — the people of our region.

Rural Roots. Uncompromising Care.
That isn’t just our tagline — it’s our promise.

We are now in the final stretch before opening our doors to patients.

We aren’t generating revenue yet — but the need in our community is already here.

In this pre-licensure season, your generosity is what keeps us moving forward. It allows us to equip our team, complete the final requirements, and be ready for the first family who calls.

Every gift matters more than you know right now.

Thank you for believing in this vision.
Thank you for standing with us.
Thank you for helping us bring hospice care home.
