Building Pathways Breaking Barriers to Higher Ed

At Open Mind School, we’ve always believed our students deserve real college opportunities — not someday, not “if they fit,” but because they belong there.

That belief inspired me to step inside the system myself. Last January, I began teaching at a local university, learning firsthand how accommodations work at the college level — where the red tape lives, where the gaps exist, and where talented students are often left behind.

This year, we’re thinking outside the blocks.

We’re partnering with a local private college to officially admit our very first OMS cohort. These students will now have a direct pathway to college, supported and guided every step of the way. You’ll see them walking the paths they’ve always deserved, and yes — you may see me in those classrooms too, ensuring no student is left behind.

Because equal opportunity in education shouldn’t depend on luck, privilege, or gatekeeping.

If the pathway doesn’t exist? We’ll build it. We’ll open it. We’ll walk students through it — one block at a time.
