When the Feeding Pueblo Initiative looked across the city, they saw more than empty lots and unused spaces—they saw opportunity. With the vision to bring fresh food and connection to every neighborhood, the team set out to renovate and construct ten new community gardens.
The journey began with volunteers clearing weeds, hauling soil, and repairing fences. Little by little, each site was transformed. Raised beds were built and soon, seeds were sown, and what was once barren began to flourish with green.
Each garden quickly became more than a place to grow food—it became a gathering space. Families learned to plant their first tomatoes, seniors shared wisdom about soil and seasons, and neighbors who had never spoken before worked side by side.
By the end of the season, the ten gardens produced baskets of fresh vegetables and fruit that went directly into the homes of Pueblo families. But more importantly, they grew something deeper—hope, community pride, and the knowledge that together, Pueblo can feed Pueblo.
