DAVID CAMPBELL

Transplant Type:  Liver

Dear Friends and Supporters,

David Campbell is originally from Hype Park, NY, but has been a resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since 2006. He has recently been confronted with a devastating, life threatening health crisis. In September 2022, David was diagnosed with end stage liver failure. David is a successful entrepreneur, a loving father to five daughters, and a grandfather.

David misses being an active, able bodied, and incredibly hard worker.

This diagnosis has not only been physically demanding, but emotionally taxing. David's lifelong career in professional landscaping has been a source of profound pride and joy. He thrives on creating beauty in the world. David also has a passion for cars and is an avid automotive enthusiast. In the last year, David has been unable to travel any significant distance, which has made out of state family visits impossible.

Fortunately, David has been approved for a life-saving liver transplant at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina, which is located 2.5 hours away from his home. However, this life-changing step toward healing comes with its own set of challenges. David will need to stay in Charleston, accompanied by a caregiver, for at least a month during the transplant and recovery process.

The illness forced David to terminate his thriving landscaping business, which he had owned and nurtured for over 25 years. Despite these hardships, he is determined to return to work post-transplant and regain his independence.  He eagerly anticipates spending quality time with his family and friends and traveling to see his children and grandchildren once he has recovered. The liver transplant procedure is crucial for him to regain his health and vitality.

Unfortunately, David’s new organ transplant comes at a very high price.

The average liver transplant costs more than $800,000. Even with the support of health insurance, David still faces significant medical expenses following his transplant. Post transplant there will continue to be pressing financial needs including lifetime follow-up care and costly medications.

This is where YOU can make a difference! His declining health prevents him from working, adding to his financial strain. The medical expenses, travel, and accommodation costs, along with the post-transplant recovery period, have placed a substantial financial burden on David and his family.

David's pressing financial needs include covering the costs of travel to and from the hospital, along with increasing expenses associated with medications not covered by insurance, as well as food and lodging during his extended stay in Charleston.

David's story is one of resilience, hope, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life despite overwhelming challenges. His dream of becoming a motivational speaker fuels his determination to overcome this obstacle and inspire others to do the same. David needs your help to make his liver transplant a reality so he can get back to following his dreams and aspirations.
