Give Local Piedmont: Help us Build 5 Local Homes!

At Fauquier Habitat for Humanity, our vision is to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live. With your help, we are able to provide equitable access to affordable homeownership in our community, fostering stability and self-reliance and ensuring that local families have the tools to thrive.

This year, for Give Local Piedmont, we are asking for you to help us build 5 affordable, ENERGY STAR-rated, Universal Design homes on Haiti Street in Warrenton, VA! These homes will continue our Neighborhood Revitalization of the historic Haiti Street corridor and will bring in 5 first-time homebuyer families as new neighbors!

Why do we build?

Shelter is not a privilege — it’s a human need. Decent, affordable housing plays a key role in a family’s education, health, wealth and well-being. However, not every household has the same opportunities to succeed. Homeownership is a key driver of American household wealth. But structural inequality in the U.S. housing market has widened homeownership disparities compared to when the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968.

In Fauquier County, where the average price of a three-bedroom home is over $600,000, homeownership is unattainable for many, including our teachers; firefighters; police officers, and veterans. The delays and cuts occurring within the federal budget further affect rural communities like Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties, which rely on USDA and other federal agencies for down payment assistance and low-interest financing.

The past year has been unpredictable, frightening, and destabilizing for many people in our community. Through it all, it’s supporters like you that empower us to provide homeownership opportunities for our neighbors. Your generosity not only fuels our projects, but also strengthens our resolve to make lasting, positive changes in the lives of those we serve.

Support Habitat’s work to advance solutions that improve housing access and affordability. You can make a difference by giving directly to our Give Local Piedmont campaign to help us build 5 new homes in Warrenton, VA! These homes will be sold at an affordable price to local families with limited incomes, providing them with the opportunity to build wealth and community connections, and better health and educational outcomes for their children.
